An ardent patriot, he joined the Navy out of high school in 1958, serving four years with the Commandant Fifth Naval District before going on to perform in various military and civilian capacities over several decades which followed.
A talented artist, he completed his public service at the Smithsonian Institute as an Exhibit Specialist.
In 1983, Johnny and Kim were introduced by her father Robert Perry, a Navy cartographer, and shared a 40-year adventure of love and friendship, including the birth of their precious son Greg in 1996.
A devoted parent and family man, Johnny gladly carried out his stay-at-home Dad duties during retirement, ably juggling wood cutting, little league practice, and saxophone lessons with ease.
Johnny was predeceased by his parents and his sister Sonny. He is survived by his wife Kim, his son Greg, his sister and brother-in-law Corinne and Jim Novotny, his nieces Michelle, and his cousins Darleen, Steve, and Courtney.
