Laura Lynn Hardy, age 53, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 27, 2025, at her home in Hedgesville, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hardy, and her brother, Daniel Ortel, as well as many other loving family members. She now joins her father Roland Ortel, mother Joyce Ortel, brother David Ortel, and sister Dawn Ortel.
Laura graduated Mt. Hebron High School in Ellicott City, Maryland, and went on to study graphic design and social work at Shepherd College. Her caring nature led her into work in childcare and elder care. Her creativity and passion for art was expressed in many different media, including painting and drawing. Laura's concern for others and the environment drew her to activism.
Laura brought love and joy to every person in her life. She will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life will be held at Morgan's Grove Park on May 13 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, Laura asked that donations be sent to Best Friends Animal Society, or Blue Ridge Wildlife Center.
