Born September 27,1918 in Walker, WV, she was the daughter of the late Fred M. and Ethel DeVaughn (Ross). She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1936 and was a graduate of the Parkersburg Business College.
LaVerne was a lifetime member of the Seventh-Day Adventist church. Her most recent membership was the Deltona Memorial Church, Deltona, FL. She worked diligently for the church for 42 years with a majority of the time as an Executive Secretary for the churches General Conference Headquarters in Takoma Park, MD.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, May DeVaughn Hardman and Betty DeVaughn Rinehart as well as four brothers, Bernard, Glen (Bud), Clifford (Freddie), and Don Louis DeVaughn. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
