

Born on May 6, 1953, he was the son of the late James W. Monroe, Sr. and Hattie V. Cooke Monroe.
He is survived by five sons: Andre Smith of Phoenix, Arizona, Norman L. Monroe, Jr. of Shepherdstown, Michael Green (Kim) of Martinsburg, Derrick Monroe (Anita) of Charles Town, and Travis Green of Martinsburg; one daughter, Shabre Clark of Martinsburg; thirteen grandchildren: NaJee Monroe of Hagerstown, Maryland, Raven Green of Martinsburg, Cedrice Kennedy, Dymond Monroe of Winchester, Virginia, Daiveyon Monroe of Martinsburg, Drey’dan Monroe of Charles Town, Travis Green II, Malakia Green, Mikah Green, Kemar Green, and Shamar Clark; two great-grandchildren: Kingston Green of Martinsburg, and Addaylah Monroe of Hagerstown, Maryland; six sisters: Betty Roberts and Ruth Brown of Shepherdstown, Naomi Fisher (Norman’s twin), Kathy Monroe and Angela Monroe all of Martinsburg, and Melanie Bolden of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Clyde V. Monroe (Diane) of Bunker Hill; special brother, John Jenkins; three aunts: Mary McGraw of Stamford, Connecticut, Margaret Grantham of Shepherdstown, and Rosetta Brown of Kearneysville; one uncle, Cletus Grantham of O’Leary, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; brother, James W. Monroe, Jr.; and two sisters: Joanne Wright and Sara Kidrick.
Due to the current virus, services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
