Born on September 12, 1934, in Martinsburg, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Edgar F. Miller and Airetta “Castle” Miller. A proud graduate of Martinsburg High School, she was a lifelong member of Berkeley Place United Methodist Church.
Phyllis married Bernard R. Church, and together they shared a beautiful life and raised three children: Richard Church, Terry Church (Margaret), and Stacey Church (Laura). She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Phyllis was blessed with five adored grandchildren: Bradley Church (Sara), Matthew Church (Rebecca), Tyler Church, Casey Church, Dustin Church; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Olivia Church; and her beloved brother, Gary R. Miller.
A woman of quiet passions, Phyllis found great pleasure in the simple joys of life. She was an avid reader, particularly of James Patterson novels, and loved solving crossword puzzles. More than anything, she treasured the time spent with her family and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard R. Church; her parents, Edgar F. and Airetta Miller; two sisters, Betty Files and Patricia Feltner; five brothers, Edgar L. Miller, Anthony Miller, James Miller, Paul Miller, and Victor Miller; as well as two infant siblings.
