

Salina was born on May 31, 1942 in Clarksburg and was the daughter of the late Emmett S. Wilkinson and Louisa Wilkinson King. She married John E. Kennedy on May 14, 1983 in Maryland.
She worked as a phone operator for AT&T in West Virginia before relocating to Corning, New York, where she began working as a family social worker for the Corning Painted Post School District, retiring in 2007 after 12 years of service.
Salina volunteered for many school activities. She was the dance advisor for the Martinette’s at the Martinsburg Senior High School. She later assisted as a band aide for the Corning-Painted Post marching band. She also had a great passion for cooking. She was a collector of cookbooks, recipes and enjoyed watching all cooking shows. She will be remembered for her amazing character. She was a strong, caring and giving person who was always thinking of others. Most of all, she will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband, John E. Kennedy of Corning, New York; daughter, Tina Louisa (Woodman, Jr.) Dawson of Fort Worth, Texas; mother, Louisa Wilkinson King of Martinsburg; granddaughter, Sabrina Marie (Chavous, III) Nichols of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandson, Woodman Theodore “WT” Dawson, III of Fort Worth, Texas; great granddaughters: Taylor Dayne and Charlee Marie Nichols; brother, Emmett Scott (Felicia) Wilkinson, Jr. of Clarksburg; brother-in-law, Jerry (Stacy) Kennedy of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Alice L. (Gene) Wilds of Alameda, California; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Salina was predeceased by her daughter, Tami Renee Johnson; and sisters, Serena A. Nunn and Noreen L. Coleman.
Friends will be received on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 2pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Salina’s name may be made to the B. Thomas Golisano Hope Lodge of the American Cancer Society, 1120 S. Goodman St., Rochester, NY 14620.
