

Thomas Oscar "Tom" Rock Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Born on May 4, 1937, in Washington, D.C., Tom lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his work, love for his family, and a wide array of personal passions.
Tom proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army before embarking on a long and accomplished career as a steamfitter. A devoted member of 57 years of Steamfitter Local 602. His commitment to his craft and strong work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and peers.
Beyond his professional life, Tom found joy in many hobbies that reflected his appreciation for nature and creativity. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, often spending time immersed in the peace of the natural world. His green thumb was evident in his love for gardening, where he cultivated beauty with care and patience. Photography allowed him to capture moments both grand and simple, while his unique collection of elephant figurines showcased his eye for detail and fondness for meaningful keepsakes.
A lifelong animal lover, Tom found great joy In the company of his many beloved pets. His home was a haven for strays.
Tom also had a spirited side- he delighted in line dancing, bringing energy and rhythm to every step. Whether surrounded by family or friends, he brought warmth and enthusiasm to gatherings large and small.
He was deeply loved by his family. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Jerilyn Rock, children: Thomas Rock III (Lydia), Wendy Mellott, Robert Rock (Cynthia), Angela Hager (Jess), and by his stepchildren: Laurie Size, Rebecca King and Dean Keller as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Rock Sr., mother Rose (Rock) Stebnitz, granddaughter, Sarah Rock, brother Anthony Rock, sister June Moseman, and stepsons Christopher Keller and Timothy Keller.
May the memory of Thomas Oscar "Tom" Rock Jr. bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to a life well lived.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 7, 2026, from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Tomahawk Christian Church 12896 Back Creek Valley Rd.
In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Tom's love of animals, the family asks that donations to be made to the Berkeley County Humane Society.
