Virginia Corbett Baker, age 76, of 1917 Dundee Lane, Martinsville, died Monday, March 07, 2011, at her home.
Born in Nash County, NC, December 18, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Leroy Corbett Sr. and Doris Keith Corbett. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Bernard Allen Baker, her sister, Connie Lynn Corbett, and brothers, William Keith (Billy) Corbett and Cecil Leroy Corbett Jr.
She attended Meredith College, was a very active bridge player, quilter and gardener, enjoyed the Tuesday morning bowling league at Druid Lanes, the Red Hat Society, and the performing arts, attended First Baptist Church of Martinsville, was a member of Middlesex Baptist Church in NC, and was a proud ‘granny’.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Baker of Martinsville, Leslie Baker Miller of Mooresville, NC, and Beverly A. Baker of Charlotte, NC, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Knight officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service.
The graveside service will be at Noon on Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Hollywood Cemetery in Middlesex, NC.
