

Betty Joan Fryberg passed away peacefully on Sunday May 3rd 2020 in the presence of her four children following a brief battle with Cancer. Betty was born February 26, 1935 in Dodge City, Kansas, to Walter W. and Lillian M. Drake. The family came to Edmonds, Washington in the 1940's where she finished her education and married her high school sweetheart Leon E. Gellerson in 1953. She gave birth to four children between 1954 and 1963. Betty remarried in 1972 the love of her life, LeRoy M. Fryberg Sr. in Marysville(Tulalip) where they lived together until 1983.. Betty attended Everett Community College Nursing program and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for Everett Providence Hospital for 28 years, both as a nurse and as a medical supply distribution specialist. Betty was very proud of and cared deeply for her 10 grandchildren, 13 great grand children and 1 great-great grandchild.
Betty was an avid flower gardener and crafter in later life and was dedicated to her Catholic faith, attending services every Sunday when health allowed.
Betty is survived by her four loving children, Debra M. Scherck (Donald) of Blaine,Washington, Michael L. Gellerson (Lori),of Tieton, Washington, Denise L. Fryberg ,of Marysville, Washington and Dennis J. Fryberg, of Granite Falls, Washington. One Step-Sister Janice O'Dell of Great Falls, Montana.
Ten grandchildren, Jennifer L. Simmons, Robert (Boo) J. Joseph, Brandon R. Joseph, Steven L. Fryberg, Michael W. Fryberg, Amanda L. Gellerson, William (Billy) E. Gellerson, Dann Riebe-Gellerson, Justin M. Mattair and Ian J. Mattair.
Betty is also survived by four step-daughters, Jamie Fryberg, Sherry Dick, Tamie Villines and Joanne Fryberg. She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian M. Lakey and step-father James Lakey and her father Walter Drake.
Due to the current regulations governing gatherings. There will be a public visitation throughout the day at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home of Marysville, WA. on Monday May 11, 2020, with private family graveside services the following day at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date.
