Charlie was a member of the Yakama Nations.
Charlie worked at the Yakama Nation Forestry Dept. in the thinning crew as a wildland Fire Fighter. He worked at the Everett School District as a Janitor and a Beading teacher. He worked at the Darrington Forestry Dept. as a Fish Habitat and Wildland Fire Fighter. He was a Logger in White Salmon.
Charlie belonged to the 1910 Shaker Church in White Swan. Charlie was a proud tribal fisherman.
He fished traditional Dip net fish, Columbia River, Skagit River, Stillaguamish River and the Puget Sound.
Charlie and Paul Harvey Sr. helped get the Pow-wow and Bone games going in Sauk- Suiattle Tribe. Viola Spencer and Charlie got the Pow-wows going at the Stillaguamish Tribe.
He loved going to different Pow-wows. He was Headman/ Whipman and winner at different pow-wows, he would travel from White Swan to Tulalip, Bellingham, Nooksack, Lynnwood, Seattle, and B.C. for the pow-wows.
He loved it when it was time to pick huckleberries and other fruits.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 47yrs. Lila, daughter Jessica (Edward) Pierce, Travis Pierce, Gary Pierce, James Pierce, and Jackie Pierce. Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and numerous family.
Even though our hearts hurt we know that he is with his daughters; Carleen and Violet Pierce, His Dad; Jesse Pierce, his mom Eleanor Kuneki, Auntie Bessie Quaemps Kuneki, Baby sister, and other family members.
A funeral will be held Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Tulalip Gathering Hall with cremation to follow.
