

Born December 13,1944 at Hershey Hospital in Muscatine, Iowa to Claris Hyett and Clara Frances (Hudson) Hyett. Buddy grew up in Western Mercer County, Illinois. The family farmed South of Eliza, then South of Millersburg where he attended the Aledo school system graduating in 1963.
He attended the U of I Champaign-Urbana for one year. Working construction, he was injured in a fire with severe burns. Hospitalized for a month, he decided to return to college. First Black Hawk in Moline and then Augustana College where he graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 1973. He was awarded a Master of Science for Project Management from Seattle City University in 2001.
Bud worked as a chemical engineer, then machine tool trades at the Rock Island Arsenal and Deere & Co. Davenport Works. At Deere, he developed his life-long skill of solving problems. Also in this time, he began his life-long hobby of cast-bullet rifle competition at the Windhill Range, Marston, Illinois.
Leaving Deere, he worked for General Dynamics in Pomona, CA and the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach. He worked as the Lead Liaison Planner for the development and first delivery of the MD-11 aircraft.
He moved to Seattle for Boeing leading the team solving production cost problems for the 757 aileron. With the success of this team, he was assigned to an internal Boeing team solving multi-disciplinary problems.
Next assigned to the team for the Boeing 787 Global Collaboration Environment (GCE) development as a process engineer and problem-solver. This IT environment connected the business units of Boeing Design, Boeing Production, and Boeing Support with the business unit of Partners and Suppliers around the World. This is the first successful GCE in the World.
Living in the Pacific Northwest was a dream come true in many ways. Bud often remarked that the only downside was his family and friends in Illinois being 2100 miles away. He and Alice Gardner shot cast bullet rifle competitions including the National Matches. Bud and Alice also attended the Seattle Symphony, movies and plays, enjoying the variety of experiences in the Pacific Northwest.
Bud was active in Freemasonry, Past Worshipful Master of Crystal Lodge #122 in Marysville, WA, member of Everett #137, and Sherman Lodge #525 in Orion. Illinois.
Bud is survived by his son Jeffrey (Angela) Hyett; granddaughter Amanda (Aaron) Hyett-Ringgenberg; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Adaline and August, all of Brookings, SD; Alice Gardner, long-time shooting partner, caregiver, and significant other; nephew Owen Garnett of Portland, ME; goddaughter Cory (Andy) Imhof of Panama Beach, FL plus cousins, friends, nieces and nephews. His father Claris, mother Frances, brothers Lennis and Larry died before him.
