Dorothy Louise Ancheta (Bunny),69, of Tulalip, Washington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 28, 2025. She was born in Seattle February 7, 1956 to Perfecto Cecilio Ancheta and Louise Katherine Ancheta (Paul).
Bunny was a beloved mother, sister, auntie, and friend whose life was defined by love, devotion, and quiet strength. She was the kind of person who cared deeply, gave freely, and opened her heart and home to anyone who needed comfort, company, or a safe place to land.
Bunny attended high school where she participated in tennis and carried dreams of doing more after graduation. Life, however, called her in a different direction, one rooted in love and responsibility. She answered that call by caring for her father, to whom she was incredibly close. In doing so, she learned to cook, to keep order, and to hold together the rhythm of a large family. Those early years shaped the nurturing soul that so many would come to depend on.
After attending vocational school, Bunny continued her role as a caregiver, lovingly helping raise numerous nieces and nephews. She took pride in her work and found joy in her job at the natural food market, Pacific Rim, where her warmth and kindness were felt by coworkers and customers alike.
In 1993, Bunny welcomed her daughter, Amanda, the love of her life, with boundless love. They had a strong bond and were inseparable to the very end. To Bunny, having her own child meant the world to her. She spent much of her adulthood in West Seattle before moving to Tulalip in 2001. There, she built a life centered on home, love, and community. She cherished her time as a homebody, cooking her dad’s famous recipes, listening and dancing along to any good music on the airwaves, visiting with neighbors and friends, and enjoying shopping trips, especially during the holidays.
Her home was always open. Whether someone needed a place to hang out, catch up, or stay for a while, Bunny welcomed them without hesitation. She spent 25 meaningful years on the rez, creating a space filled with warmth, laughter, and belonging.
Bunny had a laugh that was truly contagious. One that could light up a room and linger long after. Though she often appeared shy, her personality was anything but small. It was vibrant, unforgettable, and full of humor and heart. And of course, no memory of Bunny would be complete without mentioning her famous cookies made with love and shared generously, just like everything else she gave.
Dorothy Louise Ancheta leaves behind a legacy of care, generosity, and love that will live on through her daughter Amanda, her best friend, Kevin, her family from her surviving brothers and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her daughter Amanda; life partner Kevin; beloved dogs, Bridgett and Bayli; brothers, Ronnie (Charita), Billy (Debbie), John (Nancy), David (Angie); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perfect and Louise; sisters, Susie, Donna, Vivian; brothers, Phil, Joe, and Vernon.
