

Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 11 at Visitation Church, St. John Paul II Parish in Kewanee. There will be no visitation. Celebrant will be Fr. Johndamaseni Zilimu. An additional Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 16 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville, WA followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marysville, WA. Memorials may be directed to Visitation Church. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee and Shafer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville, WA are in charge of arrangements.
He was born September 26, 1927 in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Frank and Isabelle (Bernat) Bartok. He married Helen Balaazs in 1953 and he preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by a son, Claire (Mary) Bartok of Bothell, WA. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, James, Alfred, Albert, Ernest and Leonard and his sister, Rose Szakal.
Frank served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII . He worked as a Boilermaker at Texaco in Washington state, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He raised & raced thoroughbreds. He owned & trained Battery Limits who was a Washington State Champion in the 3/4 and the one and one eighth mile races in 1978. In 2006 he moved to Kewanee to be near his niece, Bertha (Lou) Betti and his sister, Rose Szakal.
