

Gabby Evangelista Balancio, a beacon of warmth and faith, was born on October 13, 1962, in the picturesque town of Bauang, La Union, Philippines. He peacefully passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 62 in Marysville, Washington, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones and community.
Gabby's journey through life was marked by his deep-rooted faith and a commitment to his family. He was a devout Christian, actively participating in the St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline and later at St. Mary's Catholic Church. His spiritual beliefs were a guiding force in his life, providing him with strength and direction.
Happily married to his beloved wife, Helen, for 29 wonderful years, Gabby's love story was one of joy and adventure. His path took him from the Philippines to Hawaii, where he honed his skills in electricity, and eventually to Shoreline, Washington, in 2008, following the birth of their cherished daughter, Kathryn, in 2000. In 2018, the Balancio family found their forever home in Marysville, Washington, where they settled into a peaceful neighborhood.
Gabby was a dedicated employee at Safeway from 2008 until his passing in 2025. His colleagues and customers alike adored him for his friendly demeanor and genuine care. He greeted everyone with kindness and respect, creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. Gabby's hard work and dedication were evident in every task he undertook, both at work and in his personal life.
A man of many talents, Gabby was known for his love of humor and his ability to make everyone around him smile. He was the kind of person who always put others first, especially his family, ensuring their happiness and well-being were paramount. His jokes and laughter will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
Gabby leaves behind his devoted wife, Helen, and their daughter, Kathryn, who will continue to cherish his memory. His family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him will dearly miss him.
A funeral service to celebrate Gabby's life will be held on May 8th, 2025, from 12 pm to 4 pm at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville, Washington. In honoring his wishes, Gabby will be laid to rest at a later date in the Philippines, a place close to his heart.
As we reflect on Gabby's life, we are reminded of the words of Lisa Weed: “Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life.” Gabby lived this truth every day, and his love will continue to envelop his family and friends, now and always.
