Gladys Marie Lovell of Marysville, passed away suddenly on April 11, 2022. Gladys was born to Chris and Jennie (Nelson) Gronning on July 9, 1936, in Everett, Washington. Gladys was raised in Snohomish County, moving with her family from Everett to Marysville. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1954. Gladys married the love of her life, Jack Lovell, in 1957 and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Gladys went to nursing school and proudly obtained her nursing degree in 1958.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents Chris and Jennie Gronning, brother Robert Gronning and grandson, Brad Lovell. Gladys is survived by her husband Jack Lovell, brother John (Trudy) Gronning, brother Glen (Connie) Gronning, her children Brian (Tara) Lovell, Brent Lovell, Belinda (Steve) Beardsley and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Gladys enjoyed the simple things in life. Her smile would light up a room. Before being diagnosed with MS in 1969, she enjoyed bowling at Strawberry Lanes and dancing. The family spent summers camping, first in a tent and then in a 26' Terry travel trailer on the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River, playing the card game "31" and floating the river.
She kept her faith in the Lord after learning of her MS diagnoses and lived each day with a kind, loving and appreciative heart. Her dream was to see her children graduate from high school. With her 6 grandchildren, she got to see much more over the years. Jack had season football tickets for the Huskies for many years and took Gladys to games. Jack also took her to see plays and symphonies and they went on long drives to nowhere to get Gladys out of the house every weekend. She enjoyed socializing at church on Sundays and having her hair styled weekly at Fred Meyer. Her smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the MS society.
A celebration of life will be held on May 7, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran church, 7215 51st Ave NE, Marysville, WA 98270, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
