

Hanford was known by family and friends as Senator. In his younger years Hanford enjoyed playing sports and excelled at baseball and basketball. He was a commercial fisherman and also loved crabbing. He loved to work boom city every year and enjoyed playing pool, bingo, poker and blackjack.
At the age of nineteen he met Leslie the mother of his four beautiful children; that is when he started his own family, and the love for his two stepsons. Hanford was one proud grandpa of four grandkids and he loved his kids and his family very much. He enjoyed watching sports such as Seahawks, Huskies, Sonics, and the Mariners.
Hanford leaves behind his parents, Mary Jo James, Leonard James, and Dean Fryberg Sr., his children Darin, Tareece, Jaleece, Hanford Jr., Shawn and Roy. His grandchildren Saylayla, Aubrianna, Elizabeth and Emmaleigh. His siblings Dean Jr., Jimmy, Timmy, Christopher, Jana, Lisa, Robert, Jacob, Thomas, Teddy, Rochelle, Loris and Stephanie. Many Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all who picked him up hitchhiking. Preceded in death by brother Derek James, Mom Elizabeth Henry, Uncle Duane Henry, Aunt Pat Cheer, Aunt Jeanne James, cousin Mary Lou Williams, Grandparents Roy and Monacella Henry and Charles and Marjorie James.
Hanford spent the last couple years of his life making positive improvements, including sobriety. He was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be February 1, 2017 from 1-2pm at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. Interfaith services will be February 1, 2017 at 6pm at the Tulalip Tribal Gym. Funeral services will be February 2, 2017 at 10am at the Tulalip Tribal Gym with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.
