Irene Monica Rodden

On November 30th, 2016 we lost our beloved mother, grandmother and wife, Irene Monica Rodden. Mom is survived by her husband John (Jack) Rodden; children John Jay Rodden, Tim Rodden and James Rodden; grandchildren Nicholas, Aaron, Emily, Ethan and Elizabeth. She is also survived by her sisters Helen DellaZoppa and Jenny Allen. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary and her parents Charles and Aleksandra. Irene was born on May 8th, 1933 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She moved to San Francisco in 1949. She Moved to Santa Rosa, and attended the Santa Rosa Junior college.

She attended The University of California in Berkeley where she met her husband, Jack, at a dance at the Newman Center. They were married on August 3, 1957. She received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from UC Berkeley with High Honors, Phi Beta Kappa and some years later a Masters Degree from Santa Clara University. Irene and Jack loved to travel and visited every continent except Antarctica. Irene loved tennis, Walking, swimming, flowers and gardening. She volunteered at her local hospital as a chaplain aide and enjoyed providing comfort and support for patients there

She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Any adventure or game they wanted to do or play, she was up for anything. She played endless games of hide and seek, rode upside down roller coasters and other thrill seeking rides, she'd go sledding with the kids, read with them and any other adventures they wanted. She was such a fun grandma. She retired from St Francis Catholic High School in Mountain View, CA where she was Director of Finance. Irene and John moved to Stanwood WA in 2015 to be closer to their son James, his wife Lori and their three children.

Services will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 7th, at 10:30 am.
