AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Karen Poll Yinolang
15 août 1973 – 5 janvier 2021
A chief petty officer, who served 23 years of faithful service in the United States Navy, a faithful wife of 18 years and wonderful mother for 9 years. Karen answered the call to her final mission, a deployment to rest in the presence of her Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, on January 5th, 2021. She went peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones! We will continue to honor her everyday of our lives!
She is the perfect example of “short in stature but BIG in heart”. She received her Bachelor’s degree at the Trident University International while on active duty. Karen’s loyalty to her duties in the U.S. Navy helped her rise up the ranks which provided a better living for her family. She is the recipient of Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Nato Medal, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Fleet Marine Force Enlisted Warfare Specialist amongst numerous other awards and commendations! She served with pride and honor that represented herself, her family and unit with dignity. She is a hard-charger!
She exemplifies the true meaning of commitment and dedication. She loves to do the work but never expected any reward, she loves to give but never asked for anything in return. Her perseverance to finish each task reflects great credit upon her God and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Navy. She is loved and survived by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Rachel; brothers, Jeffrey and Morden; sister, Marilyn, Naomi, Jeanes and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Please feel free to leave condolences and to share memories of Karen.

The First time we met. Although we barely speak fluent english, you spent time and stay patient with us the whole entire trip. You made us feel very welcomed and loved by you. (kids in the family) and even though i was very G.O, you never showed annoyance or look at us differently. I knew then that we earned another loving sister. i also knew then that you are very kind, smart, selfless and very courageous. you are one of my many inspiration to do great and better myself. You showed me that even for a small person like i am can go far and beyond if i set my mind to it. There are so much i want to share about you but ill just cherish it in my heart. You are truly going to be missed by our family but i know that we will meet again soon. so fly high my sister Karen, until next time. I Love You. P.s "It Works" :)

Hi Aunty Karen! We love and miss you! Thank you so much for the life you have shown us. You have known me ever since I was just a baby for you have married my smart and funny Uncle Yino. Also you have gave birth to my Amazing and incredible 1st cousin Racheal! Thank you so much for taking care of them!
Jan. 5th 2021 you passed away... rest in love aunty. Two days later, Jan. 7th 2021 my child Imani-Rin Esau Soholmar was born. Now I’m slowly turning into an adult and really realizing how precious life is. After thinking of memories of you, and the beautiful family you created with uncle, and Rachel. I look at my daughter, yet so small and fragile. I pray that my daughter to be great, kind, and strong as you were.
Thank you Jesus for everything!✝️

"In life we loved you, in death we do the same. You did not go alone. For a part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us precious memories, and your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same. But as God called us one by one, the chain will link again"..
Your big heart, big beautiful smile and quiet nature we will miss, but lives on forever in our hearts! Rest in love Chief Karen Yinolang!

I cry for those of us left behind, for the lonely ones with hollows in our hearts. I ask You to comfort us, give peace, restore hope, and lavish us with love, family, and belonging. In the depths of loss, meet us with Yourself.
I cry for the legacy this loved one leaves, for the ways the world has been made different by their presence, for the memories that become both more beautiful and more painful on this side of death. And I pray that the work You have accomplished in this remarkable life will grow deeper, wider, and stronger in the days to come, uninhibited by a weak opponent like death. - Gregory Coles

Auntie Karen,
Your strength and commitment to the things and people you love is without comparison!
Thank you for the shared laughs, the generous and thoughtful presents on birthdays and holidays, for allowing us to always be stocked with shampoos/toothpaste, for all the fresh baked bread and cookies, for putting up with our family, and most of all, for taking care of uncle and Rachel.
You are forever loved and missed. Until we meet again, rest in God’s love!
Love,
Chandra and Pinan Yesiki

I knew Karen as a joyful and vibrant person. Despite the distance and time apart, I would every now and then get a message from her, a true testament of the caring person she was. She will truly be missed but we are comforted knowing that she is free of pain and is resting in paradise. Love you cousin!

Karen and I worked closely together at FHCC Great Lakes. She was my right and left hand, always faithful and loyal to our healthcare mission. I first met Karen when she checked aboard the command, a brand new Chief Selectee. I was immediately struck by her smile and light. I as I got to know Karen I became aware of her spiritual journey, her relationship with God, her faith and family. I always knew there was something so unique and so very special about Karen and being around her made me and everyone around her feel so elevated. I love you Karen, you will be forever in my heart and I will never forget the positive and profound impact you have had in my life.

My deepest condolences to Karen’s loved ones. I worked with Karen at FHCC Great Lakes, IL. She’s an amazing person and leader. She always have that smile on her face; always happy. After she left for Washington State, she always sounded positive and in our conversations over the phone and she never gave any hint of her pain. I am really sad for such a good person to leave us so early. Maybe God needed a young Navy Chief to watch over the Angels - Heaven gained a new Angel.
I will miss you my friend.

I first met Karen onboard the USS Pearl Harbor, then 12 years later I got to work with her again in Great Lakes, IL. I’ll never forget watching her battle cancer and still show up to work, ready to give of herself to help others. She was and is an inspiration for so many!!!

Karen was the most soft spoken but positive person you'd ever meet. I can't recall her ever having an unkind word to say about anyone! My heart breaks for those she had to leave behind but my hope is for healing!
Rest in heaven Karen!

Karen, knowing that you are in the best place surrounded by our mother's and fathers eased my heavy heart. One of my best memory of you was when we were young. I was yelled at n picked by other kids after school and you rushed to my side and said very softly "Don't listen to them ugly words, cus you are not that ugly" I remember we ran all the way to Jakarsik, then walked home to Loahmehj laughing. With your big kind, humble and courageous heart that will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to Laurence, Rachel n the rest of the family. Rest in peace and looking forward to meet you again great cousin.

We are saddened to hear of Karen’s passing, but take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain.
This is one of the many ways we will remember her; with a book in hand on the weekends that she would spend with us when she was stationed in San Diego. We are thankful for all of the memories we have with her. They will always be in our hearts.
Our thoughts are with her family and we pray they find strength and peace during this time.

I first met Karen in 2015 at FHCC when we were both going through our Chief season. But because she was in transit, I had to run around with a 4’11” pole with her picture attached to it. I couldn’t go anywhere without her. I remember her being so skeptical when I asked her for a picture.
I did mention that she was in transit and I think it was from Cherry Point, NC. During one of our training days, we were carpooling back to housing to pick up some things. Long story short, it was her turn to drive so I took a quick nap. When I looked up, I panicked when I realized that we were on the wrong side of the road. Karen said she thought she was back in Japan and we both started laughing when I told her “I thought you’re coming from North Carolina.”
Karen was a great friend and mentor who was always ready to lend a hand and a listening ear. I feel very blessed to have known her and although we will all miss her I know that she will always be smiling at us. Thank you my friend. Rest in Love.
