Peter Lincoln Hatch, age 78, of Marysville, Washington, passed away on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023. Born in Exeter, New Hampshire, in September 1945 to Robert Lincoln Hatch and Constance Charlotte (Ernst) Hatch, Peter's journey through life was one filled with adventure, generosity, and an unyielding spirit.
The Hatch family, including Peter’s six siblings Judy, Emily, Candace, Pam, Wendy, and Jonathan, relocated to New York, where Peter graduated from high school. He joined the Army in 1963 and was sent to Germany. He was discharged in 1969 having earned the National Defense Service Medal as a designated rifle marksman.
Peter went on to attend SUNY Cobleskill College before embarking on a career in the aerospace industry with Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Connecticut, where he worked as a certified tool and die maker and machinist. Peter's family blossomed with the birth of his first son, Aaron, followed by Benjamin and daughter Guinevere.
In 1978, Peter ventured to Southern California, where he contributed his talents to various industries, including a printing press company, Continental Airlines, Trackside Photo, and Edelbrock. It was in 1992 that he met the love of his life, Derbalie, in the South Bay of Los Angeles, and they began a beautiful journey together in marriage.
Retiring in 2007, Peter and Derbalie settled in Marysville, Washington, becoming active members of the local community. Peter's love for fishing remained a constant throughout his life, extending to crabbing after moving to the Pacific Northwest. In his later years he embraced beekeeping, continuing to jar honey until his final days.
A man of compassion, Peter extended a helping hand to those in need and lightened spirits with his infectious sense of humor. A dedicated blood donor, he contributed over 20 gallons during his lifetime. Peter inherited his father's woodworking skills and storytelling prowess. He showcased his talents as a professional photographer as he captured offroad racing across the country.
His enthusiasm for life was evident in his love for fishing, NHRA drag races, road trips to In-N-Out Burger in Oregon, and his unwavering support for the Green Bay Packers, where he proudly held a single share in the team.
For those familiar with Peter, "The Mountain" held a special place in his heart. Mt. Washington in New Hampshire was a part of him. He worked on the summit for numerous summers in his youth, and hiked to the summit with his Dad, and later with his sons. His family will fulfill his wish to be taken to the Mountain when weather permits the climb.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Hatch and Constance (Connie) Hatch, and his sister, Candace (Candi) Martuscello.
He is survived by his siblings, Judith (Judy) Robelotto, Pamela Hanson, Emily Bliss, Wendy Sullivan, and Jonathan Hatch; his devoted wife, Derbalie (Wall) Hatch; his son Aaron Hatch, his wife Tammy, their children, and grandchildren; his son Benjamin Hatch, his wife Rose, their children, and grandchildren; his daughter, Viva Gallivan; his stepdaughter, Rita Moriarty, her husband David, and their children; and his cherished dog, Thea.
