Rodger Stewart-Stephen Vodegel

Rodger loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and put his faith first in all things. He also enjoyed cooking (mostly eating), playing cribbage, sports, he was competitive and wouldn't let you win but if you did, he would say he let you. He spent a lot of his time telling jokes, sharing stories, talking on the phone, finding treasures at the local pawn shops and thrift stores, watching his Korean soap operas (although he did not speak Korean), and he loved his family more than anything. He was always fun to be around, spreading love and joy to anyone he met, even strangers. He always found the good in everything, finding ways to cheer you up when you are sad, helping you to find your way when you feel lost, praying for you when you feel hopeless, making you laugh when you want to be mad and reminding you that the cup is always half full, not empty. He would often say, "Happiness is a choice you make but joy comes only from the Lord. Live a life full of joy!" He was equally silly as he was wise, he was our best friend, and he will live forever in our hearts.

Rodger is survived by his children Janae Winningham (Daniel), Andrew Vodegel (Nicole), and Stacey Bazan (Israel); his mother Maria Margaretha Eschweiler-Smit; his siblings Linda Lloyd (Jim), Esther Vodegel, Jesse Vodegel, Rebecca Kiser (Rob), David Vodegel (Mckinzee), Andrea Vodegel, and Marcel Vodegel; sister-in-laws Helen Vodegel and Beverly Vodegel; grandchildren Morgan Urban, Ethan Urban (Cat), Samuel and Asher Winningham, Kylie, Kayla, Andy Jr., and Alexis Vodegel, Ke'ana, Makiya, Selena, and Isa Bazan; along with many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends around the world.

Rodger was preceeded in death by his father Marcel Vodegel, brothers Raymond Vodegel Sr., and Stephen Vodegel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on September 9, 2023, with a potluck reception to follow at Generations Church in Marysville, WA.
