Val was born January 22, 1934, the youngest of seven to Nellie and Fred Lindborg. He grew up on Getchell Hill and went to Getchell School. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1952. He married that year and was blessed with three children in that marriage. In 1967 he married Joy Westlund . In the same year he and Gordon Strand formed the L & S Logging Company which they operated for 25 years. He moved back to Getchell into the old family home with his family of five kids and wife, Joy.
Val was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and the mother of his three children. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Joy; brother, Dick and his wife Audrey; children, Lance Lindborg, Link (Sue) Lindborg, LeSanne Lindborg, Monte (Susan McNutt) Westlund and Jennie (Simon Thorn) Westlund; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Val’s life will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home.
