Eugene Gene R. Merkle

MERKLE, EUGENE R., 84 years of age on November 25, 2014 of S. Farmingdale. United States Navy Veteran during the Korean War. Beloved husband of Christie of 26 years of marriage. Devoted father of John (Nancy) Merkle and Eugene Merkle Jr., and step-father of Leisa (Al) Piccola, Teresa (Jay) Bendik, John (Kim) Haas and Corinne Haas. Cherished grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 1. Also survived by his brother Walter. Eugene was an inspector for Nassau County Department of Public Works. Past American Legion Commander Post 1066, Massapequa New York.

~ Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. ~ Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 9:45 a.m. at St. Kilian RC Church, 485 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, New York 11735 ~ Interment to follow to Long Island National Cemetery ~

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior project.

Family and friends are welcome to James Funeral Home on Monday at 8:45 a.m. before leaving for the interment.
