Barbara "Bobbie" Laney Phillips

Barbara "Bobbie" Laney Phillips, age 91, of McDonough, Georgia passed away May 4, 2023. She was born January 21, 1932 in Rex, Georgia to the late Emmett Hunt and Gladys Stewart Laney. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Max Elmer Phillips; sons, Murray and Joel Phillips; brother, Stewart Laney.

Ms. Bobbie was a member of The Rock Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. She was a lifetime member of East Clayton Elementary School PTA, where she and her children all attended. For many years, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Southern Regional Medical Center. Ms. Bobbie loved to visit with people and share her baked goods with them. She especially enjoyed coloring inspirational notes to share and leave places she would visit to spread joy and the love of Jesus to others.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Larry (Carol) Phillips of Clarkesville, GA, Ted (Carol Ann) Phillips of Stockbridge, Elaine (Keith) Thompson of McDonough, Wayne (Vicki Taylor) Phillips of Covington and Angie (Mark) Gunnels of McDonough; grandchildren, Joseph (Carrie) Phillips, Lanie Beth (Brad) Sinclair, Amy (Casey) Matthews, Leslie (Matt) Wilkins, Zachary (Lizzy) Phillips, Wesley (Jodee) Phillips, Rachel Gunnels, Lauren Gunnels and Clay Gunnels; fourteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 - 3:00 pm at The Rock Baptist Church, 6188 Hwy 42, Rex, Georgia 30273. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Sunday one hour to the service at the church. The family has invited all attendees to join them in the Gathering Room at the church after the service for a time of fellowship and reflection.
