Barbara Jean Kirkland

Ms. Barbara Jean Kirkland 83, of Stockbridge, GA, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Barbara was born July 27, 1941 in Maryville, TN to the late Alfonso and Margaret Simerly. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Lowell Kirkland and her granddaughter Crystal Kirkland Clark.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her four children, Greg (Cindy) Kirkland of McDonough, GA, Lisa (Scott) Stieb of Senoia, GA, Johnny (Linda) Kirkland of McDonough, GA, and Rhonda Kirkland (Sylvia Haney) of Stockbridge, GA; her seven grandchildren, Joe Kirkland, Kesha Hunnicutt, Spencer Stieb, Destry Stieb, John Kirkland, Kayla Massey, and Ashley Haney; and six great grandchildren, Dexter Kirkland, Christopher Kirkland, Mattie O’Bright, David O’Bright, Connor Hunnicutt and Ellie Massey.

Barbara spent most of her energy being the biggest cheerleader for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan and followed them closely. Barbara went back to school at the age of 50 to become a nurse. She finished her working career helping and serving others in their time of need.

Barbara loved flowers and animals, so feel free to send flowers or make donations to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals) in honor of Barbara Kirkland.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Sharon Church Chapel, 536 N. Ola Rd. McDonough, GA. The family will receive friends an hour prior.
