

Betty Sue Tyler Clark, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 20, 1935, in Geneva, Alabama, to the late William Louis Tyler and Willie Mae Somersett Tyler.
Betty was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Martin Behrman High School. Prior to her senior year, her family moved, and she graduated from Jordan High School in Columbus, Georgia. She went on to graduate from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 1956 and worked as a Registered Nurse at Georgia Baptist Hospital, a role that reflected her deep compassion and care for others.
On December 29, 1957, Betty married the love of her life, Gary Marshall Clark. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and adventure. Betty cherished being a mother, and her children brought her immeasurable joy. Throughout Gary’s career, they traveled extensively and lived in many cities across the United States—from New York to California—forming lifelong friendships wherever they went. After Gary’s retirement, they settled in Naples, Florida, where Betty delighted in welcoming friends and family with her signature Southern warmth and hospitality.
Betty lived life fully. She enjoyed tennis, skiing, traveling, music, reading, and spending time with friends. A master of Scrabble and the life of every gathering, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She volunteered her time with numerous charitable organizations and was well known as an exceptional cook and baker. Her chicken pot pie and homemade hot fudge sauce became treasured family favorites.
Above all else, family was the heart of Betty’s life. She will be remembered for her devotion, generous spirit, and loving, caring nature. Her legacy lives on through shared meals, well-loved recipes, and cherished family traditions. She touched countless lives with her kindness. To know her was to love her, and she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dr. Tomie Gene Tyler; and her beloved husband of 66 years, Gary Marshall Clark.
She is survived by her children: Suzanne (David) Allison of Jackson, Georgia; Sharon (Ted) Clark-Perri of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania; and Marshall (Amy) Clark of Southern Pines, North Carolina. She was a loving Nana to six grandchildren: Elizabeth (Paul) Stuk of Salt Lake City, Utah; Christopher (Katie) Duda of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; William (Carli) Dolfi of Bluffton, South Carolina; Katie Clark of Golden, Colorado; Marshall Dolfi of Derry, Pennsylvania; and Sarah Clark of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Henry Stuk, Emerson Duda, Evelyn Stuk, Amelia Duda, Sadie Duda, Béa Dolfi, and Valerie Dolfi.
