

Mr. Billy James Bishop, age 64, of Jackson, Georgia passed away on August 18, 2016. Billy was born in Spartenburg, South Carolina to Sam and Eloise Revis Bishop. Mr. Bishop grew up in Ellenwood, Georgia and was a graduate of Jonesboro High School. Billy honorably served our country as a sergeant in the United States Marine Core. After his time in the military he was a long haul truck driver for a short time before making a career with Georgia Power for 28 years, retiring as a trouble man in the Power Delivery Department. Billy enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. His favorite past time was spent boating and camping with his family. He was a member of the former Cornerstone Baptist Church in Stockbridge. “Paw Paw” treasured time spent with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Billy leaves behind his wife, Debbie Bishop of Jackson, Georgia; son, James Bishop of Monticello, Georgia; daughter, Amy Morrow and her husband, Matthew of Jackson, Georgia; grandchildren, Jeremy, Kaleigh, Zachary, Rainnie, Avery, and Kelsey; his parents; a brother, Wayne Bishop of Euharlee, Georgia; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. A service to honor Billy’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 beginning 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Brother Mike Mayfield officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough.
