Braxton Herman Barden

Mr. Braxton H. Barden, age 87, of Hampton, Georgia passed away on April 18, 2016. Mr. Barden was born on November 11, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Bettie Blanch Wood Barden and McNeace Barden. He was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Barden; brothers, Howell and Mack Barden; and sisters, Maxie Faulkner and Woodie Swanson. Mr. Barden enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, reading, riding his tractor, cooking, and the beach. He was well known for his homemade brunswick stew. He was a member of Hampton United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Marian Brown Barden of Hampton; children, Kerry Barden of California, Dan Barden of Texas, and John Barden (Doris) of Woodstock; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Allena Mann (Ed) of Suwannee; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service honoring the life of Mr. Barden will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 beginning 11:00am at Hampton United Methodist Church with Rev. Brent White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
