Camellia Darlene Richards

Camellia Darlene Richards, age 63 passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024. She was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Charles Sanford and Johnnie Mae Bailey. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Michael Richards, brother in-law Kelly Vining, and granddaughter Eleanor Haniel Angelique Richards.

She is survived by her two children Stacy Darcelle (Henry Sun) Bailey and Joseph Michael (Cija) Richards II; grandchildren John Gabriel David Smith, Daniel Jerimael “Bear” Richards, Gareth Azrael Alexander Richards, and Astaria Arrielle Elise Richards; siblings Denise (Larry) Anderson, Josie Stanford, Darryl (Teresa) Bailey, Sherri (Robert) Barber, Clinton (Chad) Bailey, and Celia Bladow; and a large host of nieces and nephews.

Camellia was a loving mother and Nana to her children and grandchildren, an epitome of kindness and mother to many. She enjoyed a good cup of hot tea and arts and crafts. She had a green thumb and loved growing plants and flowers. Sunflowers and Confederate Roses were some of her favorites. In her younger years, Camellia crocheted many blankets for loved ones. She liked going on road trips and especially enjoyed vacations to the Smoky Mountains and Jekyll Island. Camellia enjoyed a career at St. John’s CDC for more than 18 years. Working with children was her life’s calling and it brought her so much joy. She had a giving nature, accepting of everyone, and always made them feel at home

A celebration of life for Camellia will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 3:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253.The family will greet friends an hour prior to her service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A committal service will be the following day Friday, September 20, 2024 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 AL-165, Fort Mitchell, AL 36856.
