During his two decades of service, Carlos traveled the world and bravely served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired with honor as a Master Sergeant.
After his military service, he continued a life of dedication and purpose, working for the United States Postal Service for twenty years before retiring again. Still not one to slow down, Carlos went on to serve as the Post Master at Clayton State University, leading the campus post office for ten years. Most recently, he worked with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department as a bailiff, finally retiring for the fourth time after ten more years of service.
Carlos was a man of great integrity—steadfast, hardworking, and deeply devoted to his family and his country. He led a life defined by service, humility, and love.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Bobbi Jean Jones, and his beautiful granddaughter, Hillary.
Carlos is survived by his three daughters: Carla (and her husband Mike) Bearden, Cindy (and her husband Wade) Simpson, and Christy (and her husband Hugh) Bertschin. "Granddaddy" also leaves behind nine grandchildren—Courtney Buckley, Lacey (and her husband Joel) Hutsell, Brant (and his wife Brittany) Hardin, Kyle (and his wife Jessica) Simpson, Tyler Bertschin, and Sadie Bertschin—as well as eleven cherished great-grandchildren.
Carlos’s legacy lives on in the love he gave, the example he set, and the many lives he touched. He will be missed deeply and remembered always.
