Carol Maddox

Mrs. Carol Nix Maddox, age 78, of Hampton, GA passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at her residence. She was born on September 29, 1946 in Atlanta, GA, a daughter to the late Dorothy and Frank Nix. She was married for 43 years to Ben Maddox and had four children. Carol grew up in Hampton, GA and lived there her entire life. She graduated from Griffin High School in 1964. She was one of the first female air traffic controllers in the state of Georgia and worked as a computer programmer with Delta Airlines for 35 years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, going to the beach, and traveling with her daughter’s band,Ill Mic. Carol was preceded in death by her father Frank Nix, mother Dorothy Nix, husband Ben Maddox, and son Glenn Maddox. Carol is survived by her four half siblings, Russell Nix, Chris Nix, Hiram Nix, and Sandy Elsen (Ron); her three daughters Leslie Dodgen (Mitch), Melanie Polk, and Lori Collins (Tim); 8 grandchildren Tiffany Cowley (Levi), Devan Rogers (Sean), Hunter Schumate, Amber Maddox, Taylor Odom (Collin), Bailey Polk, Ellea Collins, and Jordan Collins; and 9 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
