

Daniel (Dannyboy/Skipper) Leroy Lowe was born on July 29, 1949 to the late Charity Wingfield-Carew and the late Carlos Lowe, Jr. in Trenton, New Jersey. He transitioned from this life on June 2, 2025. Daniel was also preceded in death by two brothers (Tony and Gene) and one brother-in-law (Victor).
Daniel graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1969 and joined the army. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972. Daniel later attended Mechanical Trades Institute and graduated as a Master Plumber with the UA Local Union 72. He was the second African American to graduate with “Outstanding Student” status.
Daniel was united in holy matrimony to Cassandra Gilbert on July 31, 1992 and they enjoyed 33 years of love and happiness.
Daniel leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Cassandra Gilbert-Lowe (Jonesboro, GA); son, Marcus (Shambria) Walker and their daughter, Zoya of Sparta, GA; three sisters (Shirley Lowe, Mary Martin, Brenda Martin—all of Columbus, GA); two brothers (Jerome Martin of Columbus, GA and James Martin of Unadilla, GA); Father-/Mother-in-law (Mr. & Mrs. Ben Gilbert); four brothers-in-law (Varick, Vernon, Vladmir, Vincent), nephews (Jabari, BJ, Edmund, Cameron—enjoyed fishing and hanging out with uncle Danny); and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
