Remembering Danny

How should we remember you?
A droopy-eared hound at your feet,
A cat called Pretty bringing critters to your door,
Calling to your chickens as they come to roost.
Swearing by vitamin D3, zinc and magnesium, 
A helpful hermit?

The wind blows cold now, 
Across the grassy fields you once tended
Summer's passed; the leaves are falling
You’re gone,
And left us without a word of farewell.

Generous with time and tomatoes, 
Helping others with jobs large and small.
Canning Florida sunshine 
Living alone in rhythm with nature
And your creatures large and small. 

Will the sky above your farm quiver with your spirit, 
and the stars above shine a little dimmer now?
Will the full moon perchance cast a shadow on the grass that reminds us of you?
Will the animals you cared for sense you’re gone?

We will think of you when Spring comes 
When the leaves turn green
And flowers bloom once again, 
When the heat of summer comes back
To the fields you once tended
With quiet devotion. 

Danny, you left us without a word of farewell, 
Crossing quietly over the river.
May the angels greet you on that far shore.
Look down upon us with your quiet and gentle smile,
Remind us to live life fully as you did, 
And to remember you.

Tom and I still can’t believe that your sweet daddy is gone, Tara. We are so sorry for the loss of this good and kind man and will keep you, Mary, Andrew, and Micah in our prayers.
We always enjoyed visiting with him at holiday dinners and Andrew’s birthdays. He always made us feel like family. Tom thought the world of him and still talks about riding in Dan’s Mustang which he loved!

Our prayers go out to you Mary, Tara and your family and to you Linda. Danny always called me "Cuz". I know Danny will be greatly missed by many. Your Aunt Peggy and I will certainly miss you as well. Rest in Peace in God's arms Cuz!

Danny was a GREAT friend!  We grew up together  - - went to school , Cub Scouts, Oakland Baptist Church, hunting and fishing together many times.
Danny was a gentle ,easy-going person you could always depend on.  I pleasantly remember all the days he and I worked building his '32 Ford Truck, Really enjoyed reminiscing with him at our 50th year reunion,  He will be greatly missed!
 

Mr. Dan lived behind my parents.  I will always remember him as the kind of man who would do anything to help a friend or neighbor.  We are all so very sad to hear of his passing, as my Dad has lost his best friend, and work buddy.  Mr. Dan was a kind, precious, man who will be missed immensely.  Thinking of his family and holding them close in prayer.

Mr Danny and I shared a love of cows and being outside. We texted each other pics of our cows especially when they had their babies. He will be missed 💙

Growing up, I was in awe of Danny.  He was an older cousin, but not so old I never saw him.  I wish you Mary, Tara and family, and Linda, peace and comfort now, and in the coming weeks, months and years.  Rest well; enjoy the good memories.

Dan was a very kind man.  He was my neighbor for several years and my manager at the Department of Labor in Covington for many years.  I consider him my friend.  We were texting about a month ago about our health problems and he said he was doing good.  I was so shocked to hear of his passing.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Mary and Tara and the whole family at this very difficult time.  He will be greatly missed.

A true friend for as long as I can remember.  Growing up in Henry County.  Going to school together,riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing.  I have memories of him at his dads laundry, and. The Hampton House
BBQ restaurant.
