Dorothy Wood Whitlock

Mrs. Dorothy Wood Whitlock, age 97, of McDonough, GA passed away September 6, 2016. She was born in Bluford, IL, the daughter of the late Mary Fry Wood and Fred B. Wood. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Maurice Henry Green and Harvey Brooks Whitlock; siblings, Virgil Wood, Irvin Wood, Arthur Wood, Helen Wood and Vermadell Reeker. Miss Dorothy and Grandma Dorothy, as she was known by most of her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, cooking, crafts, gardening, birds, and watching the old TV shows. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Illinois and attended Eagles Landing Baptist Church before her declining health. She retired from Bennett International Group as a payroll and settlement manager with 13 years of service. Survivors are her children, Marcia and Mike Taylor of Peachtree City and Duane and Marsha Green of Cambridge, IL; grandchildren, David and Brenda Lowry of Locust Grove, Danny and Paige Lowry of Beach Mountain, SC, Lynette and Stoney Mathis of Peachtree City, Dennis and Anna Gulley of Powder Springs, Carrie Green of Ft. Myers, FL. Jason and Kate Green of Cape Coral, FL, and Jamie and Cassie Green of Shakopee, MN; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Haisten Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11:00 Am in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Weathers and Rev. Pam Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Bluford, IL on Sunday, September 11, 2016 – 11:00 AM.
