Fred Grant Jr.

Ralph Fred Grant, Jr. (Fred), age 82, of McDonough, GA passed away on January 22,2025. He was born on May 1,1942 in Miami, Florida to the late Ralph Fred Grant, Sr. and Elizabeth Payne Grant. Fred was an Air Force veteran and continued to work with service members for 45 years as an education counselor and Department of the Army supervisor.

After retiring in 2013, Fred enjoyed traveling with his wife Barbara, working on his yard, exercising, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching Western movies, and flying drones. He also enjoyed reminiscing about his past when he spent a lot of time running marathons and similar road races. Another hobby he loved dearly was scuba diving and had many great stories about his adventures underwater.

Fred spent many years as a faithful church member. He loved the Lord and wanted everyone to have a personal relationship with Him.

Fred was preceded in death by his precious daughter, April Joy Grant, and his sister Martha Glavin. Fred is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara (Calvert) Grant; and children Candice (Brad)Rivers, Daniel (Minty) Grant, and 4 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Paul, brother in law Fred Glavin, sister in law Andrea (Eric) Ellison, and beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Fred Grant will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1st at Haisten Funeral Home, with Brooks Everett officiating. The burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 AM until 11:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
