Today, we celebrate the remarkable life of our Dad, George “Ray” Mitchell. A life filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of fishing. Ray was also known as G-Daddy, Brother, Uncle, and friend to many.
Ray was raised in Forest Park, GA to J.C. and Lucy Mitchell with his sisters Charlotte and Judy. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1965 and went to technical school at Southern Poly Tech earning his degree.
After graduation Ray joined his father, J.C. at Clayton Tooling, Inc., as a tool and die maker for many years before moving on to General Motors, where he finished out his career and retired. Ray was a dedicated member of the Clayton Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of B.A.S.S. Club.
Ray was a proud father to his (3) daughters Kim, Michelle, and Tracy. He beamed with pride as they grew, celebrating their achievements and created traditions and memories to last forever. Ray also found tremendous joy through his hobbies of fishing and golf. The lake was his sanctuary, a bad day fishing beats a good day working. Memories of peaceful days on the water continued to bring a smile to his face and will always warm our hearts. After retirement, another highlight was a weekly round of golf with dear friends. Ray’s quick wit and playful sarcasm created a warmth that drew everyone close, making even ordinary moments memorable.
Though Ray is no longer with us, his legacy remains through his daughters and family. Daughters: Kim Mitchell, Michelle (Brian) Little and Tracy Anderson. Grandchildren: Drew (Amanda) Little, Mallory (Clayton) Seabolt, Evan Little, Blake Little and Jack Anderson. Sisters: Charlotte Noon and Judy McNair, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. We are comforted in knowing that he is reunited with his Mom & Dad, Brothers-in-Law, Frankie & Gary, as well as those that have gone before him.
May his lively spirit live on in the laughter shared, countless stories to be told and told again, and with the love that binds us all.
A visitation for Ray will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ray's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
