Gregory J. DeArman, age 51, was born in Birmingham, Alabama and died on Friday, April 8, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sherry; sons, Brenden and Alexander; parents, Hank and Alice; brother, Kenneth, and his wife, Katherine; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Nancy Thomas. Greg, as he was affectionately called, was very proud of his family, expressed his love and appreciation for them, and often spoke very highly of them. Gregory was a military veteran who served honorably from 1989 to 1997 in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. In addition, he survived the Khobar Tower bombing in 1996 after being thrown through a wall while serving in Operation Desert Storm. For his injuries and bravery, Gregory was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Gregory’s experience in the Air Force played a very important role in his life and his family. He frequently pointed out that the military embedded in him the principles and values of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. He often expressed to his loved ones how these values contributed to his success as an aircraft technician. After leaving the Air Force, Greg joined Delta Airlines in 1998 as an aircraft maintenance technician. Greg was known as a team player, a jovial spirit and a person who was always smiling. He enjoyed playing disco music, dancing and was also an avid woodworker. Any person who knew him knew that most of his stories started with, “There once was a man from Nantucket…”
Greg will be sorely missed.
