Along with his father, Grover was greeted in Heaven by his brother Jose Matos.
Grover loved music and possessed "amazing dance skills". He also enjoyed traveling and cooking. Being a true Georgia Bulldog fan did not stop him from cheering for his New York Mets.
Grover was truly a family man. His sense of humor, love of 80's movies and the pride in his Cuban heritage lives on through his wife of 28 years Angie Matos and his children Tiffany (Greg) Walker, Christopher Matos, Jovanni (Kamahra) Alonso, Mariana Matos, Michaela Matos, Gabriel (Diamond Lamonte) Matos as well as grandchildren Bryce Alonso, Dominic Matos, Lennox Walker and Julien Matos.
Grover is also survived by his mother Maria Matos, brother Roig (Eva) Matos, brothers-in-law Shane (DeeDee) Simpkins, Joshua Simpkins, Sean Simpkins and mother-in-law Peggy Gibbs. He enjoyed having family around and that extended to his nieces and nephews Roig (Samantha) Matos Jr., Cynthia (Carl Crowder) Matos, Joseph L. (Tabitha) Matos, Justin (McKenzie) Simpkins, Lesley (Charlie) Simpkins and numerous great nieces, nephews and extended family.
Grover was a selfless man who would give his last to someone in need. He truly lived as a father figure to many, among them Rodney, Jake and Kami and showed his love and appreciation through words of affirmation and encouragement. He lived as an example to others and will be missed by many.
A visitation for Grover will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
