Harry Douglas Austin

Mr. Harry H. D. Austin, 81 of Hampton passed away February 2, 2019. He worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Austin was a member of the Henry County Moose Club for 18 years. H. D. graduated from Henry County High School in 1955 and was the captain of the football team. He loved his children and grandchildren and spent as many hours with them as he could. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Yvonne Austin, son, Monty (Debbie) Austin of Powhatan, VA, son Doug (Janice) Austin of Hampton, GA, daughter, Pamela Richardson (Brent Hensley) of Waynesboro, VA, grandchildren, Craig (Heather) Austin, Justin and Tyler, Jessica and Faith Richardson and 2 great grandchildren Braylee and Paislee. Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Austin’s funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel with Edward DeLee officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Stockbridge City Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
