

Mrs. Helen Jean Freeman, age 78 of Hampton, Georgia, formerly of Forest Park, passed away April 5, 2016. She was born in Griffin, Georgia to the late William J.C. and Verdun Myers Thackston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carter Freeman. Jean was a retired storage facility manager. Jean enjoyed playing the piano, antiquing, and her dogs. She was a strong willed person filled with humor and wit. She had a tremendous strength and coped with life’s difficulties stoically. She loved chocolate and drinking coffee with her friends at the Waffle House. Most of all, she loved her family. Survivors include her sons, Greg Freeman of Hampton and Jon Freeman of McDonough; granddaughter, Miranda Freeman; step-grandchildren, Amber Cox and Scotty Kirk; sister, Sue (Randall) Norton of Cartersville; nieces, Tracie (Brian) Bresnahan of Cartersville, Amy (David) Gay of Canton; great nieces and nephew, Ashlyn, Lexi and Dawson; several cousins. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2:30 pm at McDonough City Cemetery. Rev. Hugh Smith will officiate. Friends may visit the family Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Jean.
