

Homer "June/Jay" Levey Bush passed away in the comfort of his home in McDonough, Georgia on November 26th, 2025. Homer was born to the late Homer Lee Levey and the late Shirley Mae Bush in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Marguerite Young. Homer was the only son and second youngest of five children. Homer is survived by his wife, Latoyia, and his six children. Christian, Jevin, Zaniyah, Na'amah, Jillah, and Kaleigh; his sisters Marguerite Bush, Linda (Kevin) Ponson, Michelle Bush, and Cheryl Bush; his in-laws James H. Walker Sr., Clasteen Alston Walker, Sandra (Robert) Mitchel, Jamesa Walker, James H. Walker Jr.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Homer lived an active lifestyle. In junior high, Homer joined his school band with his instrument of choice being the clarinet. During this time, Homer's love for music was fostered and remained with him throughout his life. In high school, Homer witnessed the birth of Hip Hop and became an avid breakdancer. After high school, Homer attended the University of New Orleans, studying Computer Science/Criminal Justice, and continued to play the clarinet. Driven to be the best, he worked his way up to first chair. While in college, Homer found and fell in love with the sport of boxing. As a boxer, Homer won many local and regional boxing tournaments and won Golden Gloves for the city of New Orleans. Homer also trained with Hall of Fame boxing trainer Eddie Futch, Hall of Fame boxers Oba Carr and Riddick Bowe. Bowe gave Homer the nickname "Slick".
In the mid-1990s, Homer moved to Georgia to start his family. To provide for his family, Homer started his career in the hotel and restaurant industry where he met many of his dear friends that remain to this day. Homer also provided a spiritual foundation by having weekly family Bible studies. His drive to provide the best possible life for his family led him to Kroger. At Kroger, Homer's work ethic and leadership qualities earned him his own store to manage. Homer remained part of Kroger's management team for 16 years until retiring in April 2021. Post retirement, Homer earned his certification to become a radio/television broadcaster. Homer's goal as a broadcaster was to teach the word of God, and to talk to professionals in order to inspire the upcoming generations to strive for greatness.
Homer was truly happiest spending time with his wife, teaching his children the importance of creating a loving family bond, and the importance of having a great relationship with God.
