Among those greeting Doug at Heaven's Gate were his mother Mary Helen Vincent and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Doug was born in Biloxi, MS and grew up in Pointe Cadet. He graduated from Biloxi High School in 1990 and later Jefferson Davis Community College in 1993. Doug had a love of being in and around water which explains the time he served as a Seabee in the US Navy Reserve.
Having earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1987, Doug shared his knowledge and experiences with other young men as a Scoutmaster for 12 years and Boy Scout Summer Camp coordinator for 6 years.
Doug loved being involved in the lives of his sons--- anything they wanted to try; he was onboard. He coached soccer and t-ball despite never having played youth sports himself. He was an active member of the Ola High School Band boosters for 9 years, serving as president for 5 years. He enjoyed hanging out with the other OHS Roadies when building sets, organizing equipment and working in the concession stand.
Doug enjoyed cheering on the New Orleans Saint, Atlanta Braves and the Ole Miss Rebels, watching M*A*S*H reruns and playing (losing) spades. Most of all he wanted to make others smile and spend time with his grandkids.
Doug is survived by his wife of almost 26 years, Lori; sons Calvin (daughter in law Hannah) and Cameron (fiancée Emily Crawford) of McDonough, and grandchildren James (2) and Magnolia (2 months); father Eves Vincent III of Biloxi; brother Greg of Biloxi; and Kim Lamey (living donor) of Biloxi.
Doug touched the lives of others in many ways--- through coaching youth sports to being a Scoutmaster to being a band booster Roadie. Those were just those in his community, but in his last five years, he worked to touch the lives of others across the world who are experiencing colon cancer. His medical chart is helping in the fight against cancer for other families.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Friday May 31, 2024 in the Fellowship Hall of McDonough First Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Doug's family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made in Doug's name to Sacred Journey Hospice or the American Cancer Society
