Jerry Lee Fouts

Jerry Lee Fouts, age 78, of Portland, Texas, died February 3, 2018 from natural causes. Jerry was born in Acworth, Georgia on February 15, 1939 to Thurston Randall Fouts and Huddie Mae Dean Fouts. On October 20, 1956 he married his wife of 44 years, Geneva Gilleland in Griffin Georgia.

He worked at Snapper Lawn Equipment (18 yrs.) in the data processing department in McDonough, Georgia. While working for Snapper, he moved his family from Griffin, Georgia to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1974 where he lived until moving to McDonough, Georgia in 1991.

He enjoyed hobbies of playing softball in his younger years, and later on he enjoyed playing golf. He also volunteered at several charity golf tournaments in Georgia.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; his parents, Thurston and Huddie Mae Fouts; his father-in-law, Noah Gilleland and mother-in-law, Flonia Gilleland; his sisters, Wilma and Fay Nell, his brothers Billy, Donald, James and his wife, Anne; sister-in-law, Lillian Pitts; brother-in-law, Noah Gilleland Jr.; and sister-in-law, Belle Kendrick.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Terry) Fouts and wife Karla of Grand Prairie, Texas; son, Steve Fouts of Portland, Texas, son Kelvin Fouts and spouse Johny Stock of Bastrop, Texas; grandsons, Eric and Cameron Fouts of Grand Prairie, Texas; granddaughter, Ginnie Fouts of Portland, Texas; great-grandson, Elliot Fouts of Portland, Texas; sister-in-law Annette Fouts; sister-in-law, Imogene Butler; brother-in-law, Ronald Gilleland and wife Betty; sister-in law, Mae Thayer and husband Ellis; and brother-in-law, Donald Gilleland and wife Bobbie; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Pastor Dave Riley officiating. Entombment will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in Griffin, GA.
