She was born on August 14, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Judge Shirley G. Wimberly and Mildred Wimberly.
Kathleen lived a life overflowing with love, faith, and creativity. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nanni, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was her family.
Kathleen had an incredible gift for creativity and poured her heart into everything she made. She owned her own cake business at one time and was known for her beautiful and delicious wedding cakes. She loved baking, embroidering, crafting, bird watching and creating special homemade birthday cards that will forever be cherished by her loved ones. Her and her husband would bake cookies and hand them out to all the neighbors every Christmas.
Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life. Kathleen was a true witness of Christ’s love, sharing encouragement and kindness with everyone she met. She was a woman of immense faith, always uplifting others and pointing them toward the hope of God’s promises.
She was devoted to her husband of many years, Thomas Michael Plumstead, Sr. Together they raised two sons, Thomas Jr. (wife Lisa) and Michael (wife Jennifer). She was a proud grandmother to Jackson, Garrett, Ben (fiancé Lillie), Melissa (husband Connor and their daughter Riley).
Kathleen is also survived by her brother, Steven Wimberly (wife Dorothy) and her sister, Ann Engelhardt (husband Kurt). Her nieces & nephews Taylor, Tucker, Evan, Ashley and Sean. As well as her grandnieces and grandnephews.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held at Stockbridge Community Church on 8/30/2025 at 2 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather as we honor her memory, rejoice in the gift of her life, and find comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior.
Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing Kathleen is healed, whole, and rejoicing in Heaven, where her faith has become sight. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God.”
