

Larry Edison Davis, age 88, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Larry was born in Atlanta on May 24, 1933, to Hope Edison and Willie Maycie Davis. Larry graduated from Hapeville High School in 1953. He got a football scholarship to Appalachian State University. Larry played for Appalachian until he suffered an injury ending his college football career. Larry continued his education at ASU and graduated with a BS in Physical Education in 1957. While still a student at ASU, Larry married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Besio, in July 1955. Soon after, Larry and Pat started their family.
Larry got a job with Morrison’s Cafeteria in June 1960, putting his college degree to absolutely no use. However, he worked at Morrison’s Cafeteria for thirty-eight years until he retired as Senior Vice President in June 1998. Larry is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-six years, Patricia (Pat), his two sisters, Hope Ann and Dale, his children Karen Selsor (Rich), Dwight Davis (Deb), Cindy Parks (Ken), Bill Davis, Dennis Mitchell (Mary Judith), eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, or McDonough First United Methodist Church. Larry’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Haisten Funerals and Cremation on 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, South McDonough, GA, 30253 – (770) 914-8833. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM prior to the service. There will be a reception at the Davis home following the Celebration of Life at 113 Northwoods Court, McDonough, GA, 30253.
