Linda Alcorn

Linda Charlene Huggins Alcorn lived a rich and meaningful life, marked by love, devotion, and resilience. Her journey from Wilmington, North Carolina to various parts of the world as an Army wife showcases her adventurous spirit and adaptability. Despite the challenges she faced, Linda remained steadfast in her faith and commitment to her family.

Linda was born to Roy H. Epps and Ruby Head Epps on May 28, 1948, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was later adopted by her stepfather Reverend Johnnie S. Huggins.

She graduated from New Hanover High School in 1966. Where she attended college briefly before getting married and becoming an Army wife. Life in the Army took her and her family to many states and Europe before ending at the last post in Frankfurt Germany and retiring to Georgia.

A longtime resident of Jonesboro, Georgia where she worked in the medical profession before retiring. Growing up in the Methodist Church, Linda played piano and enjoyed playing for the Choir. A loyal and devoted Atlanta Braves fan. An avid coffee drinker and a competitive Pinochle Player.

Linda is preceded in death by her son Scott Douglas Cupit her parents Ruby and Johnnie Huggins, father Roy H. Epps and brother Roy H Epps, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years Gerald Alcorn, son Johnnie Cupit (Sandy), daughter Erica Redman (Jason), sister Louise (Jerry) Hill, her loving puppy Belles and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Linda was Nana to all her nieces and nephews before she was blessed to be Nana to seven grandchildren: Taylor, Nathan (Amber), Ryan, Noah and Rebecca Cupit. Haley and Camden Redman and five Cupit great-grandchildren.

In her passing, Linda leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life service for Linda will be held on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Newnan Wetlands Center, 2755 Freeman Rd Hampton, Ga 30228
