

Mr. Orman Woodrow Purvis, age 99, of Conley, GA passed away January 13, 2016. Mr. Purvis was born in Willacoochee, GA the son of the late Margaret Lillian Harper Purvis and Thomas Mitchell Purvis. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Mary Clifton McKee Purvis and his second wife of 17 years, Margaret Ketcham Purvis. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Brice and Russell Purvis and a sister, Lillian Flowers. Mr. Purvis served his country in the USMC and worked for the department of defense as Chief of Police for Atlanta Army Depot. He was a member of Ash Street Baptist Church, he enjoyed bowling, golf, reading, jazz music, dancing, NASCAR, sports and an avid Georgia Tech Fan. Survivors are his children; Joanne Maddox (James) of Jackson, Marilee McNulty (Terry) McDonough and Paul Cagle of Conley, GA; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Fannie Ellen Fairley of Douglasville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Purvis will be on Friday, January 15, 2016 – 1:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hammack officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery.
