Larry, I’m so sorry to hear of Phyllis’s passing. She was the light of any gathering. If someone was having a bad day and they saw Phyllis their day had to be better. I loved her energy, her smile and her stories. I could listen to her talk all day. Please come see us one day on Alt 75 we would love to see you.

Phyllis I will miss you dearly. Every week you would send me a  stack of envelopes to stamp for you as returns for parents  to put letters in for you.  Always a joy to get your messages with a smiley face on it   :) I will miss our chats as well.   Denise Strenth 

While we never had the opportunity to put a name to a face, we exchanged many emails over the years. It is amazing the parts we are given to play in each others lives. Phyllis' purpose in Henry County Schools allowed her to make a difference in the lives of many students and parents and overall a community. She will be truly missed. My prayers go out for her family, that they will find solace during this difficult time.

Dear Chief and family:  I was so shocked when I received the call about Phyllis.  Steven Woodworth had called his dad, Dave, and Dave called me.  Just wanted to let all of you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.  I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a spouse.  I lost Lawson on 12/21/13 due to cancer, and I don't guess I will ever get over it.  I would love to be able to attend the funeral, but due to medical issues I have, I won't be able to.   May God comfort you doing this time and help you to find peace.

I met Phyllis when Lorie and I where in high school.  I can’t remember a time when I saw Phyllis when she did not have a smile on her face.  She was always a delight to be around.   What a wonderful lady.  She will be missed dearly.

I first became aware of Phyllis when I was probably 10 or 11 years old.  My big brother would come home and start getting all duded up to go out on a date - with a girl - Phyllis.  I couldn't understand the attraction of girls, but Larry seemed quite happy with the prospect.  As time goes by this “girl” starts getting more and more of my brother's time and attention.  You've got to understand he could drive!  He would carry me squirrel hunting, to town, to grandparents, or wherever we wanted our next big brother/little brother adventure.  Well, I had to admit she was nice, friendly and quite pretty, for a girl. She would even talk to me, well actually she would talk to everyone..a lot. :)

They were in love,  My big brother married Phyllis. I finally discovered what the attraction was.  My new sister was so caring and loving to Larry, our family, and even to me, the bratty little brother.  As time passed I came to love and appreciate Phyllis for what she was - a loving, kind, caring person with beautiful soul. She, like Larry, would do anything for you without hesitation.  She made our world a better place. So until we meet again, rest in peace my sister.


Phyllis Pardue taught me so many things in the eleven years that I worked for the Henry County School System.  Below is a list of the top ten things that Phyllis taught me:

1) Always give your best for the children you help.  Phyllis was so passionate  about making sure children received the best services possible from adults.
2) She taught me to read, re-read, and re-read my evaluation reports in order to check for errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.  Phyllis had an amazing eye for catching errors in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
3) Stand firm behind your convictions.
4) Laugh at yourself when you make mistakes.
5) Love others generously.
6)  Follow procedures and rules whether you agree with them or not.
7)  Never give up on your dreams.
8)  Care about others children just as much as your own.
9)  How to multi--task.  Phyllis would answer a phone call, log in information in the log book, and greet others with a smile all in the same motion.   She was an amazing at multi-tasking.
10)  Support the Georgia Bulldogs football team whether they win or lose, but make sure you question the coaches decisions if the Georgia Bulldogs lose.

Phyllis was one of the most caring and supportive people that I have encountered.  She will never be forgotten.   Praying for her family members!

I've been with Henry County 21 years as a speech pathologist and Phyllis' and my paths crossed often. Her attention to details was impeccable which made finding answers the more easier. I will miss her cheery "hello Henry County Schools" on the phone and her smiling face.

Those of us in the special education department in Henry County Schools knew Phyllis from her many emails.  When I finally met her to put a face to the name/emails I discovered a very warm spirit.  One day I was having some technical difficulties turning in some paperwork. She allowed me to use her computer and talked me through it until I got it together.  She didn't have to do that for me.  She could tell I was frustrated and didn't know what else to do.  I'm sure there are many stories of her kindness.  Thank you for sharing her with us all these years.  May God give you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

"When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." Words can not express the impact Mrs. Phyllis had on me. I will miss our candid talks, her words of advice, and her lovely smile. I thank God for placing her in my life. She is gone from our sights, but not our hearts.

Ms. Phyllis was loved by all, she was a lovely person and she will be missed. 

Mrs. Phyllis was truly one of a kind. You always knew where you stood with her and she would not let you get by with anything! I loved listening to all of her stories about her life, family, and dog. She will be missed. 

Phyllis was so special to me as our school psychologists’ secretary. She loved me and my children and always was encouraging while helping us to be our best. Phyllis was a master of grammar and organization and I can’t imagine how the office will survive without her. She loved her family and was a wonderful grandma to her precious Logan. The world is a less gracious and happy place without our Phyllis.

Such a precious lady who was always so willing to help us!  We will miss her so!  Praying for all of those that loved her, that God will provide comfort and peace. 

Ms. Phyllis had such a contagious personality.  She was funny, brutally honest,  caring, warm, and genuine.  I always got excited to visit her when I would drop paperwork off at the county office.  She was the most organized and meticulous person I know. She took great pride in her job. Her smile and stories will be missed.  I am so thankful I got to know Ms. Phyllis. She will greatly missed. 

David (Palmer) and I send our sincere sympathies and love for Larry, Lori and family, Lyn and Karen and sincere condolences to Phyllis's family.  I remember Phyllis as a very beautiful, smiling and gracious Southern woman, someone who loved her family very much.  May God bless,  keep, and comfort you all!

Mrs. Phyllis Fitzpatrick Pardue, age 71, of McDonough, GA passed away October 30, 2018.  Phyllis was born in Athens, Georgia.  She worked for the Henry County Board of Education for 32 years, she received her Master 4-H National Dress Review, and attended the University of Georgia and Young Harris.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her animals. 

Survivors are her husband of 51 years, Larry Pardue of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Lorie and Jack Powers of Douglasville; grandson, Logan Powers of Douglasville; mother, Ruth Kaplan of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and Kerry Holmes of Dalton; and nephew, Kyle Davis of Atlanta.  She was preceded in death by her father, William Herschel Fitzpatrick.
