Roberto Enrique Matos

Mr. Roberto “Roy” Enrique Matos, age 88 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away January 31, 2018. He was born in Cuba to the late Manuel Matos Montero and Sofia Duran. He was preceded in death by a son, Jose L. Matos and a brother, Oscar Matos. Roy, also known as Bob, Papi and Robert was a Master Welder and a member of Union Local # 40 in New York City. He loved working as a welder and worked on the bridges, the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center in NYC. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed boxing, music, singing, dancing and was a meticulous dresser. Survivors include his wife, Maria Evelia Matos of Locust Grove; sons, Roig Manuel (Eva Theresa) Matos of Tampa, FL and Grover Christopher (Angelica) Matos of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Roig Manuel (Samantha) Matos, II of Port Charlotte, FL, Cynthia Matos (Carl) Crowder of Ohio, Joseph L. Matos of New Jersey, Christopher Matos of Orlando, FL, Mariana Matos of Locust Grove, Michaela Matos of Tampa, FL, Gabriel Matos of Locust Grove, Tiffany Alonso of Tampa, FL, Jovanni (Mahra) Alonso of Locust Grove; daughter in law, Carmen Castell-Matos of Ohio; six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 – 2:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel.
