Born in Evansville, Indiana on October 13, 1941, Sarah attended Stanley Hall Grade School and Benjamin Bosse High School where she formed lifelong friendships. Sarah’s fondest childhood memories were made along the shores of the Ohio River. She later moved to Atlanta where she dedicated 29 years to J.E. Edmonds Elementary School as a bookkeeper.
In 1976 Sarah lovingly known as “Marci” to many, met her soulmate Richard Calhoun, after being set up by a mutual friend. That date marked the beginning of a beautiful life together. For nearly 50 years, they shared a love rooted in laughter, loyalty, and unwavering devotion. Sarah deeply cherished Richard and loved him wholeheartedly until her very last breath.
Together Sarah and Richard went on to raise their blended family with compassion, kindness, and unconditional love. Her reassuring and loving guidance helped shape their lives, leaving an unforgettable mark on each of them. After retirement they traveled across the U.S. in their motorhome Quincy looking for the best restaurants, she was a quintessential foody.
Her greatest joy and devotion in life was her family; she was their Rock and biggest cheerleader. Those that knew her best would describe her as funny, classy, and one of the most thoughtful people they had ever known. She was a voracious reader, captivating storyteller, and a gifted home chef. More than anything else, she treasured every moment spent with those she loved.
