

He served his country in the US Army and was an assistant chaplain in Vietnam. He was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served in various areas of the church. He owned and operated Nicholson Transfer and Storage Inc.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golf, traveling, volunteering, gardening, sports, and coaching baseball. He served as Past President of the Atlanta Lions Club, was a Hall of Fame Volunteer with the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, served on the board of CURE childhood cancer, was past president of J. B. Henderson PTA and Ola Athletic Association, board of directors with Georgia Motor Trucking Association (GMTA), and a volunteer with the Bell South Classic.
Survivors are his loving wife of 43 years, Pam Nicholson of McDonough; children, Tommy Nicholson, Jr. of Jackson, Becky and Robbie Rainer of McDonough, and Chris Nicholson of Birmingham; grandchildren, Haylee, Bert, and Brooklyn Rainer of McDonough; brother, Jack Nicholson and wife Beth of Dahlonega and Donna Smith and husband, Butch of Forsyth; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 11, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral service will be at Bethany Baptist Church on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Al O’Quinn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family is asking friends to join them after the service in the church fellowship hall for light refreshments.
